Mark Grobmyer

Mark Wootten Grobmyer, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree, with honors, from Washington and Lee University and then studied law at the University of Arkansas School of Law where he was awarded his Jurist Doctor Degree. He also studied international law and business at the University of Exeter in England and has participated in the Harvard Law School Program of Instruction for Lawyers. While in law school, he served as Managing Editor of the Arkansas Law Review.

In private law practice, Mr. Grobmyer served as Chairman of an American Bar Association Committee on Financial Services. He also served for many years as Senior Partner of a commercial law firm where his legal practice focused on International and Financial Services Law. While practicing law, Mr. Grobmyer also served as a Special Supreme Court Justice.

Mr. Grobmyer has been very active in international issues, serving for several terms as Chairman of a Multi State International Trade Association and various Chamber of Commerce Committees.These organizations have hosted several internationally recognized conferences in the United States and other countries. These conferences have included the participation of Ambassadors and other diplomats from more than 35 nations from throughout the world, as well as political leaders, former United States Secretaries of State and business leaders.

Mr. Grobmyer has served as a lecturer on matters of public policy, legal affairs, technology and international business for many programs and seminars presented in the United States and several other countries. These programs include leading Official Trade Missions and serving as a delegate and speaker at international conferences at the World Bank and for Ministerials of Transportation, Trade, Environment, Commerce and Energy Ministers of several nations.

He has also served as a senior advisor to the American Gas Association, the American Society of Association Executives, the International Sister Cities Conference, The World Trade Institute,The International Gas Center, The International Center for Sustainable Development, The Mid-Atlantic Hydrogen Coalition and Chief Executive Magazine, the "Club Journal" of Fortune 1000 CEOs.

Mr. Grobmyer has also served for many years as a member of the National Advisory Council and in other senior positions, with the Center for the Study of the Presidency. The Center is a nonpartisan, global, educational institution.

Mr. Grobmyer currently serves as Chairman of the World Leaders Symposium Committee. The Committee was developed as a part of the Center for the Study of the Presidency Millennium Project, which Mr. Grobmyer chaired. The Committee has developed three major international initiatives.

The Committee's Ambassadorial Briefing Series is held regularly in Washington, D.C. and other locations. This program has already involved ambassadors and other diplomats form Argentina, Austria, Bangladesh, Belgium, Brazil, Brunei, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, China, Costa Rica, Croatia, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Guatemala, India, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, the Philippines, Poland, Rumania, Singapore, Spain, Slovenia, South Africa, Turkey, Taiwan, Indonesia, Thailand the European Union and several other geopolitical entities.

Several Institutions, in addition to The Center for the Study of the Presidency, have been involved in the Committee's Ambassadorial Briefing Series. These include the Brookings Institution, The Center for the Strategic and International Studies, The Inter-American Dialogue, the James Monroe Foundation, The World Trade Institute, The International Center for Sustainable Development, The George Washington University, The Organization of American States, The Jackson Hole Center for Global Affairs, The European-American Business Council and The World Bank.

The Committee's Global CEO Roundtable Series began in 1999 and involves CEOs of U.S. and other major global companies who participate in informal events, hosted by the President or Prime Minister of different countries, to discuss important issues of the future.

The Committee's most recognized project involves plans for a World Leaders Symposium in 2010 which will bring together the Presidents and Prime Ministers of several nations for a unique global educational television and Internet program to discuss the State of the World at the end of the first decade of the New Millennium. Mr. Grobmyer has also served on the Board of Directors and/or Advisory Positions for several other charitable, arts and educational organizations.

Mr. Grobmyer also assists businesses interested in international development and expansion, to identify goals and develop the strategy, financing and other resources to achieve those goals.
