Mock Con '08

Fundraising for Mock Con '08

Excitement is building for one of Washington and Lee’s most time-honored traditions: Mock Convention. In 2008, Mock Convention is poised to celebrate its 100th year by remaining the most accurate student-run political convention in the nation.

Student leaders are currently collaborating with faculty, staff, and local civic organizers to plan the Convention’s Spring Kickoff, to be held May 25-26. This is the first of many events designed to increase anticipation as we all celebrate 100 years of Mock Convention in January 2008.

Because Mock Convention focuses on predicting the Presidential nominee from the political party out of office, students are working diligently to bring high-ranking members of the national Democratic leadership to campus. Bill Clinton, Jimmy Carter, and Harry Truman are just a few such prominent politicians who have spoken during past Conventions.

As we prepare for the 2008 Convention, we ask that you make a gift to support Mock Convention. Your generous donation will help to guarantee nationally-known speakers for our two main events in May 2007 and January 2008. Please visit here for details about online giving. The more than 90% of W&L students who will take part in the 2008 Mock Convention thank you.

If you have any questions or suggestions, please contact us at James Lester and Anthony Nardini. Thank you for your continued support of our beloved university and the Mock Convention.

Thank you,
