CAMPUS FORECAST: Out in Lexington, Va., the hard-working research team of the Washington and Lee University Mock Convention yesterday concluded that Hillary Clinton will win the Iowa caucuses. Who'll look better at week's end: the southern students, or the Des Moines Register Poll?

(The Register covered itself a bit this morning with a front-page subhed, 'Democratic camps doubt poll figure on independents,' reflecting complaints by the Clinton and Edwards campaigns that the poll - which showed Obama and Huckabee ahead - oversampled independents.)

Even on a conservative campus, Senator Joe Biden was a huge hit at W&L's 1984 Mock Convention, and he had a fantastic day yesterday, packing venues like the Raccoon River Brewing Company in Des Moines.
